Unfortunately, their desire to forget "the things that went bump in the night" has morphed into an addiction to convenience. While Blind Ivan and his secret organization make it their mission to remove the recollections of everyone in Gravity Falls who's witnessed a supernatural event, viewers later see how often they use McGucket's invention and the effects that's had on them and the townsfolk. Furthermore, despite not touching on codependent relationships, Season 2, Episode 7, "Society of the Blind Eye," deals with unhealthy dependency differently. It isn't until Soos can be himself and think unaided that he meets Melody, who becomes important to him at the show's end. Regardless if it's an argument over their height or Dipper's resentment towards his Grunkle Stan for his harshness, they come together to squash the threat regularly. Nevertheless, Gideon's influence is significant since it pushes the main characters - especially Mabel and Dipper - to put aside their differences. This motivates Gideon to be a constant nuisance to Grunkle Stan, as well as his niece and nephew. Although this isn't the last time the Pines family has to deal with him, it does establish the character's personality. As Mabel points out, he's more concerned with his interests than spending time with his sister.Īccordingly, it isn't until Dipper becomes more attuned to Mabel's feelings and what she wants that the twins are able to strip Gideon of his magical amulet. Though not as contriving like Gideon, he is still selfish. Unfortunately, it's also apparent that Dipper is guilty of some of the same issues. Through his attempts at connecting with her, the show exposes Gideon as a manipulative schemer who's self-absorbed. ![]() ![]() ![]() When viewers first meet Gideon Gleeful, he's shown taking a liking to Mabel Pines.
